St. Goar Germany

Took a train to Koln and got our briefly to check out the cathedral. Jumped on to another train to Koblenz and picked up our rental car. It was a silver ford focus wagon. Drove along the rhine to our hotel. Had difficulty finding our hotel in the rain and it was right in the square. It was called the Hotel Am Markt. Ate dinner at the restaurant and had Saeur Braten. YUmmmmy.

Happy Birthday to me. Had a wonderful dinner at Burg Rheinfelds. Jay gave me a teddy bear.

Today is the day we officially got canned from andover.net. We drove to Burg Eltz and then took a boat ride down the Rhine River.

Rothenburg, Germany

Hotel Eisenhut. We got to Rotheburg and couldn’t get a taxi so we walked to our hotel. It didn’t end up being as far as we thought luckily. When we got there Jay mentioned that there were no taxis and they gave us the suite with no extra charge. It was huge. Did a quick walk around town looking for photo opps and had dinner at an Italian joint.

Berlin, Germany

We got up early to run around Rothenburg and the light was very pretty. Caught some show on the square that represents some historic moment where some German drinks a whole stein of beer to save the town. It was overrated, but allowed us to get some good mullet shots. Just barely caught our train. Our taxi had to travel slow because of all the people in the streets. Arrived in Berlin and checked into the Hotel Hansablick. Cute place with a balcony that overlooked the river and some weeping willow trees. Chilled out on the balcony and drank red wine and ordered pizza in. Watched the Olympics.

Berlin, Germany

Went to the Art Museum, the Palace, the Picasso Museum and the Reichstag just as it got dark. Changed our plans to go to Prague because of the reports on the IMF protests. Decided to take the night train to Budapest instead.

Sleeping on the Night Train

Had an extra day to bum around Berlin because our train wasn’t leaving until 8pm. Went to the Zoo. It was a really nice day, warm and blue skies. Somehow didn’t really have a full dinner and paid for it on the night train.
