Today was Boston Marathon day. Here are a few pics from Mile 2.2. For all my pics go here.

The top male runners.

The first wheelchair racers that I actually got a focused pic of.

The crowds arrive. @lbjay provides them with Gatorade . . . Gate.

Jay figured out how to change the message on the LCD of the HP printer at his office. Thanks to his message the Boston Red Sox completed mission World Series Champions part 2 successfully. If you are interested in pulling a similar office prank Ode to Code has instructions for the brave and nerdy.
I entered the Craft Magazine Stitch N’ Pitch Contest today. I entered the Mets Apron that I made a while back. The deadline isn’t until the end of May so I might just have to whip up a Red Sox item too.
Every night the Red Sox play at Fenway I scour shots of the bullpen to catch a glimpse of the Tomato plants that are in the bullpens. I did a search to see what I could find out about their origins and found this info from 2001.

Cumberland Farm sprouts in bullpen (2001)

Bullpen coach John Cumberland is as sick as the next Red Sox fan over the team’s inability to win a World Series since 1918. Cumberland took matters into his own hands last Friday by planting 18 beefsteak tomato plants in the Red Sox bullpen. “I’m trying to change the karma. There’s been bad soil here. Hopefully now it’s good soil.
Now I have 2 questions
1. How many tomato plants are there now? I’m guessing 4 since that is the last time we won.
2. Who takes care of them?

Our 4th of July adventure was a tour of Fenway Park. Highlights included stops in the press area and the Green Monster seats. I was hoping that we would have the opportunity to run the bases but we weren’t allowed on the field.

I stitched an apron for my cousin’s engagement gift. They both happen to be obsessed with the Mets. It was hard for me to work on the NY symbol being a Red Sox fan, but at least it wasn’t the Yankees. I tried a chain stitch for the first time and was pleased with how the border came out.
Most people go shopping the day after Thanksgiving. Not my family. We all piled in the car and went to the horse tracks. My brother wasn’t able to go so we all bet on a horse named Flashy David in his honor. It won and we all left with some $$$ in our pockets!
It was my turn to choose a movie so we went and saw Fever Pitch today. Somehow the movie actually works. It was cute and an accurate depiction of Red Sox nation and Boston. There were some shots of the parade at the end that were really close to where we were, but sadly we did not make an appearance in the movie.

It is Opening Day for the Red Sox already and I somehow don’t feel ready. I feel like there should be a few more months for us Red Sox to bask in the glory of the World Champion Red Sox title. As a matter of fact if baseball ended altogether we could go out on top. Seems like it was just yesterday when Jay won the tickets to Game 5 of the ALCS vs. the Yankees and we were the psycho fans praying for a miracle. Speaking of which, I want to see the movie Fever Pitch even though it looks terrible. I’m a sucker for sports movies.
