The Paper House in Rockport, MA has walls that are made of paper as well as many of the furnishings.  This quick and bizarre side trip on our way to the beach was worth a stop. For more pics click here.

I just had to give a Rick Roll Cake a try for Jay’s birthday. It is well worth the effort as we are still laughing about it almost a week later. Make sure that you have a laptop nearby so that you can play the Rick Roll while the unsuspecting victim attempts to cut the cardboard cake. See unsuspecting victim below:

We were invited to an April Fools’ themed party over the weekend and decided to bring some fake grilled cheese sandwiches.

Ingredients: Store bought Pound Cake, Homemade Frosting, Yellow and Red food coloring

Jay grilled the pound cake so it would pass as bread and put the frosting inside the sandwich to pose as cheese. They were pretty convincing and tasted a bit like twinkies. Here are many other April Fools’ Day Food Suggestions.

This was my favorite SNL bit from the 80s. Jackie Rogers Jr’s 100,000 Jackpot Wad is still funny after all these years!

Jay figured out how to change the message on the LCD of the HP printer at his office. Thanks to his message the Boston Red Sox completed mission World Series Champions part 2 successfully. If you are interested in pulling a similar office prank Ode to Code has instructions for the brave and nerdy.

I am a bit addicted to looking at the search terms that bring people to this blog. The other day I found that someone typed kissing shadows into a search engine and was directed to my Ecuador Post. Seems like someone should write a song called Kissing Shadows.  If only I had some musical talent.

The Smittens had fun with the PhotoBooth feature on my new laptop. Here is the whole fun PhotoBooth shoot. They stayed with us while they were on tour this month. Below The Smittens pose with the cork board that I found in the neighbors trash. The happy unicorn cork board found a home in the Smittens van instead of a landfill and will be used to display messages and merch prices at their shows.

Flea Market Find

At our yearly trek to the wonderful Todd Farm we found an Incredible Hulk fist that makes smashing noises when you punch things. This great flea market find will make a great accessory for Jay’s cubicle. On that note, Think Geek has a whole category devoted to Cubicle Goodies and they even have The Cubes – Cubicle Playsets. Finally the humdrum of cubicle life has been captured in a toy for adults! Just think of the fun you could recreate near the water cooler with the delivery man, the corporate zombies and the sensitivity trainer.

I got some Bee-Bots to use with Preschool and Kindergarten students this year in Computer Class. They are small bee-shaped robots that have four arrow buttons to program the bee to go from one place to the next. They were a great hit with students, so I’m hoping to find more opportunities to use them next year. I got the class bundle that included 5 Bee-Bots. Since I never have more than 5 students, this allowed each young student to independently program and learn control, directional language and programming skills. It is a fairly new product from the the U.K. and there aren’t a ton of on-line resources yet. I might search around and see if some of the Logo resources can be translated to the Bee-Bot.

I brought one home to practice and Kitty Kelly was not pleased.

It has been hot as hell, and the cat still sits in the sun. . . Nobody ever said Kitty Kelly was the smartest cat in the world! BTW – She has a Kitty Kelly Catster page now proving that we have become crazy cat people.
