I was all set to make a commitment and paint a portion of the kitchen wall with magnetic chalkboard paint, but wimped out and opted to get 2 chalkboard tiles from the Pottery Barn.

I knew that the improper disposal of batteries can lead to contamination of soil and ground water, but I didn’t have a place to take them so I had about 2 years worth of old batteries to get rid of. Yesterday I took them all to a nearby chain called Batteries Plus that offers complete recycling solutions for most types of batteries to prevent harmful impact on the environment.

This was not a good year for our carrots. They all came out looking like this and tasted like card board. I think next year I need to do some crop rotation. Carrot gardening tips has many great tips. On a side note I saw some beautiful purple carrots when I was at a farmer’s market in Vermont.
