Frigidaire Flair

frigidaire-flair.jpg

We actually have this oven in our kitchen. It is super cool and we are in love with it, but we just can’t work it into our new kitchen design. It is currently for sale – Click here for details.

It is going to be a sad day when we part with it. I found this Retro Tech website that has lots of good info and it looks like there is a bit of a Flair following out there. We saw the stove in a typical kitchen display at the JFK Library in Boston and it also was the stove that Samantha Stevens used on the show Bewitched (see below). Recently I spotted this oven on the TV show Joey.
sammyflair.jpg

After seeing a Image Enlargement idea on Martha Stewart’s Blueprint I decided to enlarge the image of the manual cover for framing to make up for the void that will be in our house when we say goodbye to our beloved Frigidaire Flair. A 20″ x 30″ matte image from Shutterfly was about $20. See below:

Did you get your stove in white? I am curious if anyone is still looking for one in working order.

      • Teresa says:

I am looking for one of these. I have one that I love, but not all the burners work. The kitchen was built around this stove/oven and it would be far less expensive to replace the stove than the whole cabinet/counter area.

      Hello,

My wife and I just purchased a house (1956) and to our surprise there is a Frigidaire flair (2 ovens) Not sure wat the model # is, but got a feeling its a 654-2. Anyways, we arent sure what we should do with it, everything works on it (expect the light inside it) and the light on the outside. Any advise would be appreciated. thanks

I am interested in one of these as I my grandma had one that broke and I’m trying to keep her house as is and need one to replace it with. Where is the stove located? And most importantly is it available to buy? Could you please send me some pics. I am sure I’ll get sentimental but I would like to see it and buy it.

      • Alex says:

        Hi Gary
I guess we could sell it, allthough my wife kind of liked the retro look it gave the kitchen, especially considering that everything on it works (except the light). We live in montreal canada and, not sure where you are or if it would even be worth for you to come pick it up depending where you are. Let me know what is your email so that i can send you the pics.

        thanks

        alex

      • Holly Beck says:

Are you willing to part your stove out? My great grandma still has her that is original to her home and the bottom heat element to the small over broke. Please contact me at the-becks@hotmail.com. Thank you!

Ours is a double oven with the white base cabinet Custom Imperial model. It is in great condition. The previous owners of our house didn’t use it much because there is a second kitchen in the basement where they did the majority of their cooking. Don’t ask why 🙂 We have been using it as our main oven/cooktop for the past 4 years. The speed heat burner is not working, but we just learned that it could be the fuse. We live outside Boston, MA and are looking to sell and find a good home for it sometime this fall.

    • Martha Danzig says:

Mike, I have the same stove and need the glass control panel. While our elelctrician was working on ours, he accidently broke this glass piece. Do you have one, will you part your stove out? Please advise. M. Danzig

  13. Rich Krieger says:

Responding to Mike Puchte: There’s a Flair stove with two ovens at an old ‘mansion’ where I may become caretaker soon. Two of the burners are not working. One of the other ones has one speed only (high). The fourth burner is the only one functioning. The previous caretaker tells me he’s had two electricians look at it and both declined to fix it…something about having to do a non-standard fix and concern about grounding. I need to learn more. Long story short: Let me know if you find a fix. I’ll do same.
    Rich K in Manistee, Michigan

    • Cindy Carter says:

We have this stove as well, the ovens work great but three of the burners don’t work and the burner that does work works well but shuts off and on. Let me know when you find a fix…. I will part with the stove, it’s a real conversation piece.

  14. Debbie says:

I was wondering if you sold your Frididaire stove? I have one exactly like it – it is my all time favorite stove, but unfortunately when we moved it will not fit into my new kitchen. I am thinking about selling it and was wondering how you came up with a price to ask.

    Thanks,
    Debbie

  15. Jeff says:

  16. Kathy says:

    Hi,
I have a 1960’s Frigidaire Flair Custom Imperial stove for sale. It’s listed on Craigslist in the Los Angeles area. Could you tell me what you are asking? Mine is in great condition. THanks!

  19. Deb says:

I have recently listed a Frigidaire Custom Imperial Flair Stove Oven on ebay. Item #
This stove has just been removed from it original home. It was installed new in 1965. I listed it as a whole stove and I have had lots of ebayers interest but the freight and was too high and to troublesome to ship so they did not buy it. So, I have decided to take the stove apart and ship it as parts. I will remove everything that I can and ship it to you. I will be able to send the vent’s original filter which is in great shape. I will remove the knobs and “gull-wing” doors and package them and ship to you. I will ship the racks and actual burner elements. I will send the clock knobs, the timer knob and the long glass face that goes across the stove. I will send the long handle that opens the stove. I will send ALL the screws and keep them with the item they go with. Someone asked if I could pop off the Frigidaire logo and send it. I feel certain that I can. As I take it apart, if there is anything else I can send, I will. I want you to be able to use (or sell) every part of this stove. ALL these parts are original and in good shape. I will ship all these parts to you for $250.00. If you want me to send anything else I will only charge you actual shipping costs. I will use the United States Post Office (unless you want different delivery) and I WILL INSURE THE PARTS for you. (if in Canada, the costs may be higher – we will just have to see when I get your address.) This is a great old stove – enjoy!
If anyone is interest in the whole stove:
It is in good condition however, the burners need maintenance. One oven works the other I was told needs the fuse replaced.
    • Electric
    • Made in the early 1960s
    • 4 burner, pull out cooktop
    • Has attached hood
    • Double oven unit with “gull-wing”doors
    • Oven light
    • Overhead light
    • 40″ wide, 68.5 “tall, 25″ deep
Shipping is up to the winner who wins the Whole Stove (costs and pick up arrangements). We live in North Carolina and I have it stored in a clean garage (nice and safe). I have described the stove as best I can. If you have any questions, please email because all sales are final and I want you to be happy! and of course, I cannot be responsible for damage of any kind from shipping.
Hope someone is interested and can use this great old stove!

Hardly used for about 23 years. Serious inquiries can be sent to STRAZKAT@go.com. I only check this address weekly, so be patient if you do not get a reply quickly. Item is for sale, as kitchen was just remodeled and oven/stove replaced with a modern Frigidaire unit. We loved this stove/oven, and it remains in good working condition. If interested, or if you have questions, please contact me at will1130@msu.edu.

    Thanks for your interest!

  66. Jethro says:

In Oklahoma, I have a complete one of these frigidaires from 1962(give or take a year),
for parts (probably) – burners, timers, controls, supports, have everything(I think)…
or restoration(not likely – it fell off truck during last move, sprung doors and hinges… sigh..)
    ..
will separate parts as requested/worked out.
    ..
$30 per part, discount for several parts, shipping extra. (from oklahoma)
$150 gets the whole top half of unit locally(too heavy to ship)
    – all of the cooking unit/ovens/burners/controls/glass.
I plan to keep the bottom cabinet, but might entertain an offer.
    ..
amazingly, the glass did not break when the frigidaire fell off the truck.
unfortunately though, the oven doors sprung and the burner slide out won’t slide out. looks like minor cosmetic damage, but can’t operate the moving mechanical parts/doors/slideout properly.
The ovens and burners worked great, no reason to think any part doesn’t work itself. Still any part/every part is sold as is.

    ..
To contact me, put “Imperial Frigidaire” in the craigslist items wanted in tulsa.
I watch the list frequently, Yhvh willing.
Or you can watch for “Imperial Frigidaire” posting in tulsa/okc under general and reply.
    ..
I expect to sell or part it out on or before 110708.

I have one of these Flairs in my house, with the instructions, and the original Mastercharge slip used in the purchase. Does anyone have one that does not work, that would like to part out for the knobs, the clock, and any other items? I live in the Buffalo NY area.

  74. Mark R says:

We have a flair imperial in the kitchen of a house we just bought. Everything works even the clock. It doesn’t have a base as it is built into the cabinet and needs to be cleaned up but it’s still a great looking unit. Unfortunately the glass on the controls has been broken. I’d love to find a replacement. I think this is a very cool stove and I’d love fix it up. Any one know where I could find the part? Thanks

  85. Kathy Bailey says:

I purchased a Frigidaire refrigerator about 2 years ago; I have had nothing but trouble with it from day one. From the start I am a single mom and cannot afford to throw money away. I needed a refrigidaire in the worse way so I purchased one as close to my (very rural) home that I could find. I made my purchase at Godfrey’s a local lumber yard in Wyoming co. WV and paid nearly $1,000 for it. From the time I plugged it up our food began to have a chemical sort of smell and taste. I had to throw a lot of food away eventually that problem went away. Shortly thereafter the compressor went bad and I had to have this fixed. I thought surely this would be the end of my refrigerator nightmare, but now the refrigidaire side of my frigidaire refrigidaire is no longer cooling. I cannot afford to have it fixed AGAIN. I cannot purchase milk for my child because it spoils. I am here to say that I will NEVER purchase anything that has FRIGIDAIRE written on it again.

Hi Flair enthusiasts. I am in the Chicago area (Valparaiso, Indiana) and have a Flair that I absolutely love – unfortunately I am moving and can’t take it with me. It is looking for a good home. It has a four burner stove and single oven with cabinet. It works perfectly – even the clock. I’m not sure of the year, but I’m checking on it. I’m cleaning it at the moment, but would be happy to send pictures if anyone is interested. The site will notify me of comments and I’ll get right back to you.

I HAVE A CUSTOM IMPERIAL RCI 645 J… LARGE OVEN DOES NOT WORK CLOCK AND SMALL BACK BURNER TO NOT WORK. I AM IN UPSTATE NEW YORK… 585-507-2528

  89. Suzanne says:

I have a CUSTOM IMPERIAL FLAIRE RCI 645 J – only one burner (the small front) works. The ovens work, but there is a short in it somewhere, and we have to shut it off at the breaker in the utility closet to shut it off, or it stays on at 250degrees.

I am interested in buying a functioning unit to replace this one, or if someone has any info as to replacement parts or repairs I’d be quite thankful. We are in NC, and would consider having the working unit shipped to us.

Please contact me if you have a unit or information. This is our cooking stove, and the only way to replace it with a new model (2009) would be to completely remodel the kitchen!!

Any help would be MOST appreciated. I have searched the internet, found forums etc, but have not had any luck… I’m desperate, I need to be able to cook for my children!

    Thanks in advance,
